17 years after they shared screen space in Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, Aishwarya Rai and Anil Kapoor are all set to reunite for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and KriArj Entertainment's (Prerna Arora and Arjun N. Kapoor) next production, Fanney Khan.

However, they will not play each other’s romantic interest. In fact, SpotboyE.com has it that Aishwarya Rai will romance a much younger man in the film.

Aishwarya and Ranbir Kapoor’s chemistry in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil grabbed headlines last year, courtesy the steamy scenes, and looks like the makers are keen to experiment with the scenario, yet again.

It remains to be seen who will bag the role opposite the actress.

Furthermore, the preparation for the movie begins by mid-July and the film will go on floors in August. Anil plays the role of a singer and will be taking the mic to record a few songs in his voice. We also hear that Aishwarya will also croon along with Anil Kapoor.

A few days ago, Prerna Arora spoke to the media about Aishwarya’s role and the film’s schedule. She said, "The team starts building the set in Mumbai next month and Anil will kick off shooting in the first week of August. Aishwarya joins him by the month-end and the film will wrap up in a start-to-finish schedule by October. Ash was blown away by her glamorous and “highly stylised” character. We took the script to her two months ago and she immediately gave her nod."

Prerna further said that Aishwarya’s role will be much different what she has done after her comeback. “Her character is the complete opposite of her serious turns in Jazbaa and Sarbjit. In our film she is the spunky, enchanting female protagonist." concluded the producer.

Fanney Khan is the Hindi adaptation of the 2000 Dutch release Everybody's Famous directed by Dominique Deruddere, which was also nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 73rd Academy Awards.

Fanny Khan will be directed by debutant Atul Manjrekar. The film is based on the story of a 17-year-old aspiring singer whose career takes off after her unemployed father, who also harbours the dreams of becoming a musician, decides to kidnap the top singer of the country.
